Some basic information
Pharao is a German dance act and consists of singer Kyra Pharao (17-2-1971), who is half Indian, and rapper Dean Thomas (only heard on the first three singles and the first album). Dean fronted a group called Splash before Pharao. The first success came in 1994 with the single I Show You Secrets, a top 10 hit in most European countries and number one in almost every dance chart. The single came in no less than 12 remixes. The second single There Is A Star debuted on the German chart in the top 10 and also was a massive hit. The third song was a little bit less popular in the charts, but also a masterpiece: World Of Magic. An album titled Pharao was released in 1994 with songs focusing on Egyptian themes: King Pharao, Dance Of The Snake, Rave Like An Egyptian and Gold In The Pyramid. After that we heard nothing more from Pharao until in 1997 the song Temple Of Love reached the charts, a beautiful dreamdance track. Pharao is also known for Petit, the three-metre-long python who joined Pharao on stage and in their videos.
